Qualifications & Education
Melanie graduated from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she received her Masters of Science in Physiotherapy. Prior to this, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts, Honours Specialization in Kinesiology from Western University in Canada.
Melanie has continued her professional development by completing her Acupuncture certificate through Acupuncture Canada, Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) Level 1 and 2, APTEI hip complex course, Rocktape, and cupping certifications. Melanie has most recently become interested in Vestibular Rehabilitation and has completed an advanced Vestibular Rehabilitation Course through ISCP. Her future plans include acquiring certification in Clinical Pilates Training. Melanie maintains a membership with Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and CORU registration.
In the UK, Melanie worked with volleyball teams at the European Volleyball Championships and with local rugby clubs. In addition she has been working in Toronto, Canada within a musculoskeletal clinic. Throughout her educational and clinical experience she has worked with many different populations; weekend warriors, elite athletes, paediatric, and geriatric populations. Melanie has helped treat and manage many different conditions that include, but are not limited to post-op rehabilitation programs, sport-specific injuries including concussion management, neurological and vestibular conditions.
Melanie enjoys the outdoors and would like to explore Ireland's many hiking trails for 2019. Melanie participates in team sports such as tag rugby, soccer, and volleyball; but also challenges herself with yoga, pilates, kickboxing and running. She hopes to participate in the Dublin half marathon this year.
