Qualifications and Education
Marcelo is a Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership with ISCP (Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapist) and CORU (Regulating Health & Social Care Professionals).
Marcelo completed his Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy from Lutheran University of Brazil (ULBRA) in 2008. He has a particular interest in treating sporting injuries and has completed additional courses in the assessment and treatment of sports injuries with particular emphasis on emergency care; development of flexibility for sports injury prevention and return to sporting activities. He has also completed additional training in Kinesio Taping and has attended courses on manual therapy techniques for the knee, ankle, pubis and shoulder.
Marcelo has extensive experience treating a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries in Ireland. He also worked with a professional football club in Brazil and has provided Physiotherapy support for the Futsal (Indoor football) Irish champions, travelling with them to competitions throughout Europe. To keep his clinical skills in a wider area, he currently works part time with Spectrum Health/The Physio Company and is the primary Physiotherapist in a Nursing Home, providing care for the residents.
Eager to learn current information in his field, Marcelo enjoys researching and reading to keep his skills up to date. He also maintains a healthy and active lifestyle taking part in sports regularly.
