What are Flexibility Programmes?
Our Physios can develop an individually tailored flexibility programme to suit your needs. These programmes will include exercises that are suitable for your age and condition and within your capability. These will focus on developing your flexibility and strength. You will be guided by our physio on safe ways to exercise.
Core Stability & Flexibility
We also work with patients to improve their Core Stability which helps with flexibility. There are many terms used to describe the concept of core stability but all generally refer to the muscular control used to maintain stability around the lumbar spine and pelvis.
There are many different components to core stability needed to stabilize the core region. While strength of the muscles is somewhat important, their ability to activate during specific movement sequences is what the main aim is. The muscles need to be activated during these specific movement patterns in order to stabilize the low back and pelvis to create a stable base from which force can be generated through the limbs. If you have great core stability you will get less injuries and have an enhanced ability to kick, run, jump, strike the ball, etc. Whatever your sport and whatever your level, we can create a programme for you.
