Aileen graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in June 1995. She completed a Masters of Health Science in Orthopaedic Physiotherapy at University of Indianapolis in 1999 and has completed exams to become a member of the Irish Society of Orthopaedic Medicine. Aileen also qualified as a Stott Pilates Instructor in 2006 and has extensive experience in giving classes to clients with postural dysfunction, back pain and pre and post natal clients.
Since qualifying, Aileen has worked in both the HSE in various Irish hospitals and in Private Practice (USA, Dublin, Galway).
Aileen’s areas of interest include rehabilitation in all patient groups from the “weekend warrior” to elite athletes, and from young children to the older population with musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries. She is very interested in lower limb biomechanics and postural dysfunction particularly in dancers and runners, with assessment in orthotic prescription and fitting. She also has experience in treating babies with such conditions as torticollis, plagiocephaly and talipes equino varus.
Aileen has completed numerous post grad courses in the fields of lower limb biomechanics in adults and children, pelvic dysfunction (including pre and post natal women), muscle imbalance, back and neck pain, manual therapy, joint mobilisations, dry needling and sports injuries.
Aileen has represented Galway at national level in life-saving competitions, and has completed several triathlons and marathons. In her free time she now enjoys keeping fit with her family by walking, swimming, body-boarding and running. She also works out in the gym when she gets the chance!
