Anne McGoldrick (née Coolen)
Medical Director
Chartered Physiotherapist
Anne is a fully licensed and practising Chartered Physiotherapist. She obtained her BSc Physiotherapy degree in Trinity College, Dublin and she has over 13 years of private practice experience in Dublin and Limerick. For the last 6 years she has been Joint Partner in Drumcondra Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic, which became part of The Physio Company in 2009. She has completed a number of accredited post-graduate courses including manipulation and NST. Although she enjoys treating the whole plethora of conditions and injuries, her special area of interest is Spinal pain and Cervicogenic headaches. Anne also has a wide range of experience in Sports injuries and she has provided Physio to a number of teams, including Young Munster Rugby Football Club.
Among her many responsibilities in the Company, Anne is in charge of the medical excellence of the Company.
Anne works between all of our clinics so an appointment with her may not always be possible.

Fiona McDevitt
Chartered Physiotherapist
Cranio-Sacral Therapist
Fiona is a fully licensed and practising chartered physiotherapist.
She obtained her honours degree at Trinity College Dublin in 1995 and is also licensed to work in Canada and Australia. Over those fourteen years Fiona has gained great experience both working abroad and in Ireland, mainly in the private practice setting and also in managerial roles. As an adjunct to her physiotherapy she has studied and trained as a Cranio-Sacral Therapist. Over the years she has completed many courses to broaden her skill and knowledge base, successfully completing exams along the way. Her passion is for musculo-skeletal work that facilitates ease of movement in the body and therefore less strain and pain! Fiona’s approach is very hands-on and her areas of special interest and experience include musculo-skeletal disorders, muscle imbalance, biomechanics, back and neck pain, whiplash, foot problems, posture, sports injuries, osteoporosis etc.
In her spare time Fiona loves being outdoors and active and has tried most sports. Her favourites include hiking, cycling, swimming, and anything to do with horses! She has combined her interests with a lot of volunteering and fundraising over the years and is always on the lookout for a new challenge!

Kate Canty
Chartered Physiotherapist
Kate is a fully licensed and practising Chartered Physiotherapist. She obtained a Masters degree in Physiotherapy from Teeside University, UK having initially completing her BSc (Hons) Physical Education and Mathematics degree in University of Limerick. Kate has also completed studies in Sports and Exercise Psychology at Waterford Institute of Technology.
Kate’s interests include Rehabilitation to reduce pain and to facilitate a fast return to normal activities. Kate loves being active and particularly enjoys playing rugby, golf, swimming and Gaelic football.
Kate specialises in musculoskeletal injuries, sports injuries, neurological conditions, back pain and neck pain.

Melissa obtained her Physiotherapy degree from the University of Sydney, Australia in 2005. She has experience in many different areas of physiotherapy including the management of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and neurological conditions. After starting her career in the Prince of Wales hospital in Sydney, she spent time working in several different hospitals in Scotland before moving to Dublin in July 2009. Melissa likes to keep herself active with long distance running, and plays netball and tag rugby in her spare time, and so has a keen interest in sports and sports injuries, along with lots of experience in exercise prescription and injury management/prevention.
While she is often asked what she is doing in Ireland, so far away from home and the warm weather, Melissa has decided that she is enjoying the ease of travel and experiencing different the cultures (and food!) that Europe provides too much to return to Oz just yet!!

Niamh Byrne

Niamh is a fully licensed and practicing Chartered Physiotherapist. Niamh obtained her BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree from University College Dublin. Her main interests are in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and sports injuries. She has also completed a post-graduate qualification in Sports Traumatology and Myofascial trigger point release and has worked as a physiotherapist with the UCD Rugby club and volunteered at the Dublin City Marathon. As well as this she has also volunteered her skills in Ghana with the Right to Dream Football Academy that have supplied players to football teams in the Premiership.

Owen Threadgold
Chartered Physiotherapist
Owen is a fully licensed and practicing Chartered Physiotherapist. Owen obtained his masters degree in physiotherapy from the University of Southampton after initially completing a BSc science degree in human physiology and anatomy from University College Dublin. Owen is a keen sportsman and has firsthand experience of a variety of sporting injuries having completed marathons and played rugby for many years. His particular interest is in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Owen also has all the accreditations necessary to prescribe custom orthotics using our state-of-the-art Gait foot scanner. Owen works with a number of rugby teams and rowing clubs. Owen has published research in science journals and is part of our team that writes for various health magazines, although he would admit himself that his clinical skills far surpass his writing skills!

Erica Prendergast
Chartered Physiotherapist
Erica is a fully licensed and practising Chartered Physiotherapist. She obtained her BSc Physiotherapy degree at Royal College of Surgeons in 2006. She has also completed a post-graduate qualification in Dry Needling and Kinesio-Taping and is hoping to begin a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy in 2011. Since qualifying Erica worked in DAT Hospitals and private practice before moving to New Zealand in 2009. She has experience in many different areas of Physiotherapy including the management of musculoskeletal conditions, orthopaedic and neurological conditions.
Erica has been a resident club physiotherapist for a Leinster Senior League soccer club here in Dublin and whilst working in New Zealand in a very busy private practice was working with a soccer academy, rugby clubs and professional basketballers.
Her main interests are in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, sports injuries and Dry Needling. Erica likes to keep active with running, soccer and hiking and has a keen interest in sports and sports injuries, along with lots of experience in exercise prescription and injury management/prevention.

Kevin is a fully licensed and practicing Chartered Physiotherapist. Kevin obtained his BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree with distinction from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland after initially completing a BSc.(Hons) degree in Science (Anatomy), from the National University of Ireland, Galway. Since qualifying Kevin has worked in the National Rehabilitation Hospital. He has experience in Musculoskeletal, Spinal Injuries, Neurology, Respiratory, Paediatrics, Oncology and Care of the Elderly. Kevin has also completed a post-graduate qualification in Sports Traumatology.
He has worked/volunteered with many different teams such as Connacht Rugby, St. Olafs Gaelic Football, Salthill-Knocknacara Gaelic Football, Galway Swimming Club, Corrib Water Polo Club and The Irish Water Polo Team. He has a great understanding of sports injuries having represented Ireland in Water Polo and Swimming for many years. Kevin also competes in various events in long distance swimming, marathon running, and triathlons both nationally and internationally.

Stephen Swanton
Chartered Physiotherapist
Stephen is a fully licensed and practising Chartered Physiotherapist. He obtained his BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree at University College Dublin. Since qualifying Stephen has worked in private practice. He enjoys treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries, especially neck and shoulder problems.
Since graduating Stephen has taken part in a number of professional development courses covering Biomedical Acupuncture, the Management of Work related Musculoskeletal Disorders and Sports Traumatology. In 2008 Stephen obtained certification as a Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan instructor and has previously taught the UCD Tai Chi club.
Stephen is also highly involved in the Sports and Exercise Medicine clinical interest group of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and is currently their Communications Officer.

Lynne is a fully licensed and practising Chartered Physiotherapist. She obtained a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Southampton after initially completing a basic degree in Sports & Exercise Science from the University of Limerick.
Lynne is joining us after working in private practice in New Zealand for the past year, where she was also the NZ Women’s Rugby Team Physiotherapist. She also treated the men under 20’s whilst there. Previous to this she worked in private practice in Limerick for two years and was the Bohemians Rugby Club Team Physio.
Lynne has completed a number of accredited post-graduate courses including, Acupuncture / Dry Needling , Stott Pilates, Orthotic Prescription, Kinesiology Taping and in 2009 completed her Certificate in Orthopedic Manual Therapy from Curtin University, Perth, Australia.

Lynne’s favourite pastime is sport and she has been on the Irish Senior Ladies Rugby Team for 9 years carrying 57 caps for Ireland!

Danielle Mah is a fully licensed and practicing Chartered Physiotherapist. Danielle obtained her BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree with distinction from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland after initially completing a BSc.(Hons) degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Her main interests are in Musculoskeletal and Women’s Health. Danielle has also completed a post-graduate qualification in Sports Traumatology. She has worked with many different teams such as Bective Rugby Club, Railway Union Hockey Club, Kilmacud Crokes GAA and St.Patrick's FC, and is currently working with the FAI, travelling internationally. She has a great understanding of sports injury and having played competitive soccer and basketball for many years as she has experienced most of them herself!

Warwick Gordon
Chartered Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist
Warwick is a fully qualified and practising Chartered Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with a BHSc from Auckland University of Technology. He later went onto complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in 2007 allowing him to diagnose and treat complex neuromusculoskeletal conditions using advanced techniques including spinal manipulation. He has developed his skills working in private practice in both New Zealand and Ireland over the last five years and has a particular interest in low back pain, running disorders and dysfunctions of the shoulder. Whilst working in private practice Warwick has worked with elite athletes from a variety of sporting codes including rugby, soccer and basketball. This has included providing on and off field care to the Marist Rugby club competing in the Auckland Premier Rugby Competition and Waitakere United soccer in the New Zealand National league.

His experience covers areas such as Musculoskeletal, Neurology, Respiratory, Rheumatology, and Care of the Elderly. Rob has obtained post-graduate qualification in Trigger Point Therapy, Occupational Back Pain and Sports Physiotherapy. He has worked pitch-side with teams such as UCD Gaelic Football, UCD Soccer, St.Jude’s hurling teams and Dublin’s Senior Camogie Team. Claudia is a fully licensed and practising Chartered Physiotherapist. She graduated as a Physiotherapist from the Colombian School for Rehabilitation (CSR), Bogotá, Colombia. CSR for more than 50 years has prepared highly qualified individuals to practice Physiotherapy mainly in the areas of cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal and neurological rehabilitation. In 2007, Claudia obtained the Spanish university degree of Physiotherapists recognition and validation, Madrid. Spain.
Claudia has gained much experience and worked in a variety of settings in particular neuro rehabilitation, orthopaedics and musculoskeletal. She obtained great experience working with the Military Rehabilitation Hospital in Colombia treating patients with different conditions; such as spinal injury, strokes, multiple sclerosis, cranioencephalic trauma, and cardiac rehabilitation. She has eight years experience working as a physiotherapist in private practices and hospitals in Colombia and Ireland.

Mary Coolen – Clinic Director

Mary is a well known and well respected Chartered Physiotherapist with over 35 years of experience in Physiotherapy with accreditations in England, Canada and Ireland. For the last 25 years, Mary has run private practice clinics in Ireland and was the founder of Drumcondra Chartered Physiotherapy & Sport’s Injury Clinic, which joined The Physio Company in 2009.
Among Mary’s many achievements and responsibilities, Mary was Chairperson of the CPPP (Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice) the body that represents all private practice physio’s.

Una Ni Mhainin
Chartered Physiotherapist
Una is a chartered Irish physiotherapist who obtained her Honours BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of Limerick. Since graduating Una has gone on to work in hospitals in both Ireland and New Zealand where she gained extensive experience in post surgery, orthopeadic and aged care physiotherapy. From there Una has gone on to work in a busy private physiotherapy clinic in Brisbane, Australia which mainly dealt with musculoskeletal and sport injuries. The clinic was also a primary physiotherapy provider for a local rugby union team and an AFL team.
Since returning home to Ireland Una has continued working in private practice. She has also been the physiotherapist for a local GAA club. Una has volunteered as a physiotherapist in the World Transplant Games 2009. She has a keen interest in sports mainly tennis and GAA.

Since graduating Jennifer has worked in a number of hospitals gaining experience in both the acute, rehabilitation and private practice settings. Karol is a fully licensed and practising Chartered Physiotherapist. He obtained his BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree at University College Dublin. Since qualifying Karol has worked in St. Vincent’s University Hospital and prior to that Cork University Hospital gaining experience in the treatment of patients with musculoskeletal, Orthopaedic, Neurological, Respiratory and general medical conditions as well as patients post-surgery.
In addition, Karol has gained experience working in private practice, and has been involved as a Physiotherapist with the UCC Rugby team. He has also attended a number of courses post-graduation, covering topics such as Manual Therapy, Taping and Joint Strapping, and Musculoskeletal Injury Assessment and Treatment. Karol has published research in science journals and is hoping to have further work accepted for publication in the near future. Rafael is a fully licensed and practising Chartered Physiotherapist. Rafael obtained his BSc Honours Physiotherapy degree in Feevale University, Brazil. Rafael has completed a number of post graduate manual therapy spinal courses. He worked for a number of years in Brazil prior to moving to Ireland in 2006. Rafael has worked across a broad spectrum of areas in Physiotherapy including neurology, rheumatology, respiratory and musculoskeletal whilst also lecturing in many of these areas. A fluent Portuguese and German speaker, no end to his talents, really!

Leigh Johnston

Leigh has been with us since 2007 having joined us after working in a number of hospitals and clinics including, Nobles Hospital, NHS - Stobhill Hospital, Jennifer Hague Physiotherapy and Sklaar, Laidler and partners. Leigh has completed a number of accredited post-graduate courses including, Acupuncture / Dry Needling (for the lumbar spine, SIJ, hip, cervical spine, thoracic spine, shoulder, the extremities and oral-facial pain), Pilates and Integrated Manual therapy for the cervical spine. Leigh also has all the accreditations necessary to prescribe custom orthotics using our state-of-the-art Gait foot scanner. Although a native South African, Leigh has worked in many countries (including the UK) but has been with us since 2007. She must love the rain!

Ergonomists
TOPSonja Hermann
Senior Ergonomist
Sonja is a consultant ergonomist who has worked with international clients in the US, Germany, Italy and Ireland. She has vast experience in workstation design and improvement and in carrying out ergonomic assessments for the workplace. Prior to becoming a consultant, she worked as an ergonomist for 5 years with BMW in Munich. In 2007 Sonja moved to Ireland, where she is a researcher and lecturer in Ergonomics and Human Computer Interaction (HCI) at University College Dublin. Her research includes workstation design and improvement with particular emphasis on seating (office seating, car seating).
Sonja received an MSc in Ergonomics from University College London and a BSc in Biomedical Science also in London. She is currently finishing her PHD at the Technical University of Munich researching seat comfort.
