What is Podiatry?

Podiatry means podos – foot, iatros – physician. It is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases of the human foot. Its focus is on the relationship between foot disorders and misalignments of the legs, and how foot disorders affect leg movements. Many instances of foot, knee, leg and back pain can be attributed to the way the feet are oriented and the way someone stands, walks and runs. If you have sore feet, foot pain, ankle pain or knee pain then our podiatrist can assess you condition and provide a treatment suitable to your needs.

Our podiatrist also specialises in sport podiatry to analyse the way an individuals’ foot strikes the ground while playing sports and evaluate its impact on the other joints in the leg. For more information on this service click here
