    • Anne Coolen McGoldrick

      Chartered Physiotherapist - Anne McGoldrick

      Anne is a fully licensed and insured Chartered Physiotherapist and has worked in Private Practice for over 15 years. She is one of the founding partners of The Physio Company. Before co-founding The Physio Company, she worked in The National Orthopaedic Hospital in Clontarf, in Private Practice in Castletroy Physiotherapy Clinic in Limerick and in Drumcondra Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic. She became a joint partner in Drumcondra Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic in 2003, which has been in operation for over 25 years. When The Physio Company commenced operations in 2007, she quickly brought Drumcondra Physiotherapy Clinic into the fold and it is now an integral part of The Physio Company.

      Anne takes a great interest in the direction of Chartered Physiotherapy as a profession. As Director of Medical Services for The Physio Company, Anne applies her long and diverse experience in all areas of Physiotherapy in directing the medical excellence of our Physio team. She ensures that all of our physiotherapists maintain the high levels expected by The Physio Company with constant focus on our Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme. She also ensures all our Physiotherapists abide by The ISCP Rules of Professional Conduct and the European Core Standards of Physiotherapy, with a particular focus on ethics, confidentiality and patient satisfaction. She is very involved at a training level and handpicks all of our Physiotherapists herself.

      Although Anne currently does not have a regular schedule in the Clinic she does consult on difficult cases where needed and is always available to discuss any aspect of apatients care with the patient or the Physio.

    • Mary Coolen

      Mary Coolen

      Mary is a well known and well respected Chartered Physiotherapist with over 35 years of experience in Physiotherapy with accreditations in England, Canada and Ireland. For the last 25 years, Mary has run private practice clinics in Ireland and was the founder of Drumcondra Chartered Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic, which joined The Physio Company in 2009. Mary is currently working as the clinical lead in our Malahide clinic.

      Among Mary’s many achievements and responsibilities, Mary was Chairperson of the CPPP (Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice) the body that represents all private practice physios.

    • Warwick Gordon

      Clinical Director - Chartered Physiotherapist, Clinical Specialist in Musculoskeletal Therapy

      Warwick is a is a fully licensed Musculoskeletal Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. Warwick completed his BHSc from Auckland University of Technology. He later went on to complete an MHSc in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy allowing him to diagnose and treat complex neuromusculoskeletal conditions using advanced techniques including spinal manipulation. He has developed his skills working in private practice in both New Zealand and Ireland over the last seven years and has a particular interest in low back pain, running disorders and dysfunctions of the shoulder. Whilst working in private practice Warwick has worked with a variety of elite athletes providing on and off field care to the Marist Rugby club competing in the Auckland Premier Rugby Competition and Waitakere United soccer in the New Zealand National league. Currently Warwick works with Bective Rangers RFC.

  • Frank Kenny

    Chartered Physiotherapist

    Frank is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists, the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (UK) and the League Medical Association (Sports Medicine in Elite Professional Sport – UK). He obtained his BSc. (Hons) Physiotherapy Degree in Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. He also holds a previous BSc. Degree in Science from N.U.I. Galway.

    Since qualifying Frank has worked as the head physiotherapist of St. Johnstone Football Club of the Scottish Premier League, treating numerous international players such as Cillian Sheridan, Alan Maybury, Callum Davidson and Jody Morris on a full time basis. Frank also has experience working as a personal trainer with Micro Fitness and Conditioning in Vancouver, Canada. Here he provided comprehensive strength and conditioning, injury prevention and rehabilitation advice to a wide range of clients from those suffering with degenerative neurological conditions to elite professional athletes.

    Since graduating Frank has completed courses in dry needling, osteopathic techniques for physiotherapists, diagnostic ultrasound, sports specific taping and orthopaedic medicine. He is currently involved in the Sports Physiotherapy Program in conjunction with the Sports Surgery Clinic Santry, helping with elite team assessments.

    Outside of work Frank likes to get involved in most sports. He has represented his county and university in underage Gaelic football and soccer, and he has played underage hockey for Munster and was also involved in underage training camp with the Irish national team.

    Chartered Physiotherapist - Caroline Knox

    Caroline is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist and Acupuncturist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists.. After graduating, Caroline completed her Masters Degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and achieved a Distinction in her membership exams for the Manipulative Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. Caroline completed a Higher Diploma in Acupuncture at UCD in 2007, as well as a post graduate Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy at UCD in 2011.

    She worked for 5 years as a Senior Outpatient Physiotherapist in, the award winning teaching Hospital, Whittington Hospital, London, and has worked in private practice since returning to Ireland in 2005. She was also clinical tutor on the MSc Manipulative Physiotherapy Course in University College London. Caroline uses her 10 years of specialist experience to address patients personal needs and preferences to enhance efficent recovery from pain and injuries. She is also currently the team physio for the Under 21s Rugby Team in UCD.

    Caroline has experience working with with the Irish Womens Rugby Team, the Irish Womens Emerging Sevens Rugby Team and was an IRFU Physio for the Girls Sevens Rugby Team Trials and has been a Team Physio for the UCD Under 20s Rugby Team for the past three years.

    Outside of work, Caroline was an active and enthusiatic Member of Orwell Wheelers Cycling club and is a member of the sports and exercise medicine special interest group in the ISCP. Caroline has an expertise and a special interest in treating people suffering from chronic pain, sports injuries and musculoskeletal disorders.

  • Eoghan O'Sullivan

    Chartered Physiotherapist

    physio baggot street Eoghan is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. Eoghan completed his BSc in Physiotherapy in University College Dublin. He then completed an MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine in Trinity College Dublin, where he was awarded the clinical prize for best performance in the clinical exams. The MSc helped improve his diagnostic skills, and paved the way for him to get involved with elite sport where he has worked with both the IRFU and FAI underage setups.

    Eoghan is the Head Physiotherapist for Coolmine RFC. He attends all training sessions and match day fixtures for the top two teams in the club. He is Education Officer with the Chartered Physiotherapists in Sport and Exercise Medicine, where he helps organise and coordinate courses for the professional development of sports physiotherapists.

    Eoghan approaches any issue with an holistic approach; he tailors treatment to focus on patient’s goals to maximise patient motivation and outcomes.

    Eoghan specialises in musculoskeletal injuries, sports medicine and exercise therapy and has a particular interest in shoulder rehabilitation, low back pain and strength & conditioning.

    Caitriona is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current memberships of both the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapist UK.

    Since Caitriona qualified with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy Degree from The University of Hertfordshire (UK), Caitriona has worked both in NHS Hospitals and in private practice as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. Caitriona is also a fully Certified APPI Pilates instructor with experience in teaching clients on a one to one basis and in group classes. Caitriona aims to make her Pilates classes a fun and rewarding experience where everyone can reach their own personal goals, fitness and flexibility. 

    Caitriona has wide experience in the treatment of various musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions, such as low back pain, neck pain, sports injuries, pre/post surgery and fractures.  She has also run comprehensive chronic back pain courses.

    Caitriona has completed many postgraduate courses in myofascial release, Mulligan mobilisations, shoulder injuries, acupuncture, Pilates, vestibular rehab and treatment of the lumbar and cervical spine.

  • Claire O’Reilly

    Claire-O'Reilly

    Claire is a fully licensed, chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. Claire graduated from University College Dublin with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree.

    Claire has special interests in Sport and Musculoskeletal Injuries and Paediatrics and Women’s Health. She believes in using evidence based treatment to achieve lasting results for patients, and has certified as a STOTT Pilates instructor, Level 1 BAHT Hand therapist and Spinal Manual Therapist. She has also completed training in antenatal education and conditions specific to pregnancy such as Pelvic Girdle Pain. Having found dry needling and Kinesio tape of use to her own injuries when training for triathlon, Claire has trained in the use of K Tape and next intends to become certified in the use of dry needling.

    Upon graduating, Claire worked in two busy Dublin clinics, treating a variety of musculoskeletal patients and teaching Pilates in group and one to one settings. She also worked with a variety of sports clubs including UCD Rugby, and travelled as Head Physiotherapist with the Irish U16 Womens team to the European Basketball Championships in Estonia. She then spent almost 3 years in Crumlin Children’s Hospital, where she worked as a Senior Physiotherapist and gained invaluable experience treating a broad range of conditions, including orthopaedics, rehabilitation and chronic pain. Claire has also worked abroad in South Africa, Uganda and the Middle East, where limited resources meant that she relied on excellent assessment and diagnostic skills to continue to deliver the high standards of care she provides to all clients. She is passionate about maintaining high standards of education and professionalism within Physiotherapy and this year will act as Clinical Tutor to final year UCD Physiotherapy Students.

    Claire is a hands on therapist who also uses exercise and education to enable clients to manage their symptoms, whilst addressing the root cause and returning clients to full, pain free function as quickly as possible.

  • Mary Wallace

    Mary-Wallace

    Mary Wallace is a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 35 years experience and a current fully licensed  member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists.

    She has worked in the acute hospital setting in Dublin, as well as in rehabilitation, paediatrics and private practice. She has spent the last 15 years as lead clinician and manager of the HSE Primary Care team in Wicklow. Mary’s specialist interests are in care of the older person using balance and strength training, musculoskeletal injuries, paediatrics and biomechanics of the lower limb.

    Mary’s area of interest in rehabilitation of all patients groups taking a holistic approach. Mary completed the APPI Pilates Matwork course series in 2013 . Mary provides modified Pilates for low back pain and generalised osteoarthritis in the older age groups.She is interested in helping the older adult maintain independence and achieve fitness goals  through balance and strength training, and the prescription of mobility aids if necessary .

    Over the course of her career Mary has attended Maitland and Cyriax courses focussing on joint mobilisation and manual therapy. Mary has used these techniques extensively in the treatment of joint and musculoskeletal conditions.

    She has completed  PPL and Langer  courses on lower limb biomechanics and has a special interest in the prescription of orthoses and orthopaedic footwear .

    In 2011 Mary obtained a BSc(Hons) (Open) from The Open University, Milton Keynes London modules of which dealt with understanding and managing health & social care. She completed a post graduate certificate  course in Children and Loss from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2012 which provided an insight into the impact of bereavement and loss on children and their families. Mary has worked in paediatrics in the acute hospital, disability and primary care setting. Mary has recently attended an update in Women’s Health provided by the Coombe Hospital.

  • Shane Malone

Shane graduated from University College Dublin with a BSc Physiotherapy degree with a special interest in Sports and Musculoskeletal physiotherapy. He has spent the spent the past 3 1/2 years living in Australia where he worked in a Sports injury clinic gaining extensive exposure to the assessment and diagnosis of variety of sporting and musculoskeletal injuries.
     
    Shane has carried out postgraduate  training in the area of sports injury management (diagnosis and treatment) through the Australian Physiotherpy Association of which he is a current memeber of,  as well as furthering his clinical skills  in Manual Therapy, Dry Needling and the Mulligan approach. He is currently  doing a Masters in the area of Sports Physiotherapy through University College Dublin to further his knowledge and skills in this discipline. Shane also plans to further his Professional development in the next 12 months with the completion of a Certificate in Manual Therapy as well as Strength and Conditioning course through the National Stength and Conditioning Association

    Shane has a special interest in treating neck and lowback pain as well a variety sports/musculoskeletal injuries. Through his post-graduate training Shane uses manipulative therapy as well as exercise therapy in his approach to gaining best results with his patients.

    He is a keen sports fan and has had much experience with team Physiotherapy in Soccer, Rugby Union and GAA both in Ireland and Australia.

  • Ciara Ryan

    Chartered Physiotherapist

    Ciara is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. Ciara graduated from University College Dublin with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree.

    She has special interest in both Sports and Musculoskeletal physiotherapy and Women’s Health and has completed many postgraduate courses to further her clinical experience in shoulder injury, women’s urinary incontinence, Pilates, hip and groin pain, sacroiliac pain and orthotic prescription.

    After graduating from University Ciara worked in The National Maternity Hospital, providing antenatal and postnatal education and focusing on the treatment of pelvic girdle pain and urinary incontinence. Ciara has recently returned from living and working in Australia, where she gained valuable experience in acute hospital care, working with Orthopaedic patients, Respiratory patients and Neurological/Care of the Elderly patients as well as assisting in the running of exercise classes for pulmonary rehabilitation, infectious diseases and pre and post-transplant patients. 

    While in Australia, Ciara also developed her skills a Pilates Instructor, beginning her APPI Pilates training. Ciara believes strongly in the use of Pilates-based exercises for both rehabilitation and prevention of injuries. She currently teaches Clinical Pilates at a number of locations throughout Dublin.

    Since returning home to Ireland, Ciara has been working in private practice, where she has gained extensive exposure to the assessment and diagnosis of numerous sporting and musculoskeletal injuries. She has also worked as a club physiotherapist with both Stillorgan RFC and UCD RFC in Ireland and the Melbourne Unicorns RFC in Australia. She is a keen sports fan and in her spare time enjoys running, playing squash and practicing Pilates.

  • Glauber Barduzzi

    Chartered Physiotherapist

    Glauber is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and of the Brazilian Physiotherapy Association crefito-3. He obtained his BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree at University Paulista -UNIP, Assis-Brazil. Since qualifying he has worked in a number of places both in Brazil and Ireland. His main area of interest is in sports/musculoskeletal conditions having gained extensive experience in these areas during his time working in a sports injury clinic and with a soccer team in Brazil.

    Glauber has also experience in a wide variety of conditions with a special interest in degenerative conditions such as arthritis. He has published a recent study in knee osteoarthritis. He is committed to CPD and evidence based practice and has completed a number of post graduate courses such as Mulligan technique and Kinesio Taping. Glauber is qualified and certified to perform Dry Needling.

    He is currently undergoing a Masters in Advanced Physiotherapy Studies with a focus in sports rehabilitation through University College Dublin to further his skills and knowledge in this area.

    Glauber played professional soccer in Brazil in the Paulistão championship for four years which has helped him to better understand the pitch injuries mechanism and the rehabilitation process with athletes. He is a big sports fan and still enjoys playing soccer here in Ireland.

  • Veronica McCormack

    Veronica McCormack is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with both the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists in the UK. Veronica gained her BSc Physiotherapy degree at Coventry University where she gained experience with Warwickshire County Hurling team and Coventry City Football Club academy. Since qualifying Veronica has worked as an Orthopaedic Surgical Assistant and also as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in both the NHS and private practice settings.

    Veronica has a specialist interest in musculoskeletal injury and rehabilitation particularly in terms of pain management and patient education. She has extensive experience in the treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions as well as vestibular disorders and headaches. She has completed a variety of post graduate courses in knee and shoulder injuries, acupuncture, vestibular rehabilitation, kinesiology taping, treatment of back and neck pain and nerve symptom management.

    Veronica has a keen interest in sports and athletics as well as exercises classes and is currently training for her next personal challenge in completing her first triathlon. Veronica’s goal is to help her patients achieve their personal challenges however big or small in an effective, professional and friendly manner.

  • Niall Burns

    Chartered Physiotherapist

    Niall Burns is a fully licensed member of the ISCP with accreditations in New Zealand, Australia and the UK.  Niall Graduated from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, School of physiotherapy.

    Since qualifying Niall has worked in both public and private healthcare settings in Ireland, the UK and NZ, the main emphasis of practice being on musculoskeletal dysfunction’s and sports injuries with both professional and amateur athletes.  

    Niall’s treatment approach is always individually tailored to his patient’s needs and expectations.  Incorporating both traditional methods of physiotherapy like manual therapy along with a newer, more evidence based approach.

    Niall’s practicing experience has led him to work with some of leading physiotherapists in their fields enabling him to pick up key skills in manipulation and mobilisation techniques. Through working with professional athletes Niall has gained extensive exposure in this area of which has lead him to take a key interest in high level rehabilitation, especially injury prevention for athletes.

    Since qualifying Niall has also undertaken courses in manual therapy, kinesio-taping, acupuncture, dry needling and pain management.  Whilst also starting a M.Sc. in Advanced clinical practice. Niall specialises in spinal injuries, sports injuries, pain management, injury prevention and return to work/sport rehabilitation programmes and acupuncture.

  • Róna Keane

    Chartered Physiotherapist

    Róna is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with accreditation’s in both the Society of Chartered Physiotherapists in the UK and in Ireland. Róna gained her BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree at Teesside University. After graduating as a Physiotherapist she worked in the largest hospital in Kent where she gained experience in all Physiotherapy fields including, orthopaedics, care of the elderly, respiratory, cardiology and musculoskeletal. Róna also ran post- operative shoulder and wrist rehabilitation classes.

    Róna has also worked for the Belfast Trust in a health and wellbeing centre where she gained further musculoskeletal experience in both acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Being committed to keeping up to date with current Physiotherapy techniques she has additional certification in a variety of post graduate courses including Mulligan’s mobilization with movement manual therapy concepts, Pilates qualification with the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute (APPI) and an Orthopaedic update course.

  • Sonia Salsbury

    Chartered Physiotherapist

    physiotherapistSonia is a fully licensed and insured Chartered Physiotherapist. Since Qulaifying Sonia has been committed to CPD and has completed accredited postgraduate courses in myofascial release, K-taping and APPI Pilates.  She also undertook a Special studies module in Neuro-Medicine and has conducted her research on “The effect of group exercise on depression and self-efficacy of post-stroke survivors.”

    Sonia has worked in France in a private rehabilitation clinic, composed of an Orthopaedic & Neurology department, Cardiology department, Nephrology department, Hydrotherapy facilities and Day Hospital. She had the opportunity to work with a wide range of professionals while attending weekly multidisciplinary team meetings and taking part in complex discharge planning cases. During her time there she gained experience in a wide caseload of Orthopaedic, Neurological and Cardiac patients.

    Sonia has a special interest in Neurology and Muskuloskeletal injuries. She is primarily a hands on therapist with emphasis on Myofacial release.

  • Elaine Murphy

    Elaine Murphy is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapy.  Elaine completed her Master’s degree of Physiotherapy in Manchester Metropolitan University having first completed an honours degree in Rehabilitation Studies in University of Wolverhampton.

    Elaine has also completed an ITEC diploma in sports massage, sports injuries, personal training and exercise prescription.

    After graduating as a Chartered Physiotherapist, Elaine worked in one of the main acute hospital settings in Liverpool where she gained experience in all Physiotherapy fields  including rheumatology, hydrotherapy, orthopaedics elective and trauma, care of the elderly, respiratory, cardiology and musculoskeletal.

    She is a keen sports enthusiast and was also involved with the ladies Gaelic football team both as a Physiotherapist and a player.  So she knows how important it is to keep injury free!  Elaine’s treatment approach is always individually tailored to his patient’s needs and expectations, incorporating both traditional methods of Physiotherapy like manual therapy along with a newer, more evidence based approach.

    Since returning to Ireland, Elaine had been involved with community and care of the elderly Physiotherapy and involved with the Gaelic football team on a voluntary basis.

  • Manus MacGabhann

    Manus

    Manus is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. Manus completed his Physiotherapy degree in Sheffield Hallam University. Manus had previously studied a BSc in Sports Management and MSc research masters in Sports Studies in UCD. Manus presented these research findings at the Irish Medical Sports Council at the annual Sports and Exercise Medicine Conference in The Royal College of Surgeons in September 2009.

    Since qualifying, Manus has worked in private practice gaining experience in treating a wide range of conditions including sports injuries, arthritic joints, repetitive strain injuries, orthopaedic conditions and neck and back pain. Manus has also worked in the Cara Chesire homes working with the physically and mentally disabled and has experience in hydrotherapy with Enable Ireland treating numerous neurological conditions.

    Manus has a great interest in sports physiotherapy as he is a keen follower and participator in numerous sports. He plays rugby, Gaelic football, football and golf. He has worked for UCD Men’s Senior football team, Irish Men’s Senior Volleyball and Bective Rangers Rugby Club where he gained experience with pitch side injuries, trauma and dealing with acute sporting injuries.     Aileen graduated from Trinity College Dublin  with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. She completed a Masters of Health Science in Orthopaedic Physiotherapy at University of Indianapolis and has completed exams to become a member of the Irish Society of Orthopaedic Medicine. Aileen is also a qualified Stott Pilates Instructor and has extensive experience in giving classes to clients with postural dysfunction, back pain and pre and post natal clients.

    Since qualifying, Aileen has worked in both the HSE  in various Irish hospitals and in Private Practice  (USA, Dublin, Galway).

    Aileen’s areas of interest include rehabilitation in all patient groups from the “weekend warrior” to elite athletes, and from young children to the older population with musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries. She is very interested in lower limb biomechanics and postural dysfunction particularly in dancers and runners, with assessment in orthotic prescription and fitting.  She also has experience in treating babies with such conditions as torticollis, plagiocephaly and talipes equino varus.

    Ann has gained experience in the field of sports physiotherapy, with particular focus on basketball and GAA. She has also worked as a Physiotherapist for many sporting events throughout the country including the Athlone ¾ Marathon, Vodafone Triathlon, and the European Surfing Championships, among others. Since graduating, Ann has completed additional courses in Sports Traumatology and Sports Taping, and will shortly complete a Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy course.

    Ann also has an interest in active ageing and elderly rehabilitation. She has completed both formal and informal courses in falls prevention, urinary incontinence care and treatment, and bone health. Since graduating, Ann has also worked as a Research Physiotherapist in UCD, planning and executing a research project entitled “A home-based electrical muscle stimulation training program in an elderly population”, where she carried out exercise testing in an older population and educated participants about EMS and exercise.

    Ann has a keen interest in all sports and has a competitive background in basketball. She has played basketball with UCD Ladies Basketball Club for 5 years in the Dublin League and has now joined Team Kilkenny. She is also a certified Basketball Coach.     Áine is a fully licensed and insured chartered physiotherapist with current membership of the ISCP. She graduated from Trinity College Dublin with an honours BSc degree in Physiotherapy. She spent several years working in Changi General Hospital in Singapore, a large award-winning hospital, with several international standards of care including JCIA and ISO accreditation. During her time here, Áine carried out a number of research projects with a view to improving patient care throughout the hospital, as well as setting up and running a variety of new patient-centred services such as specific exercise classes for patients after orthopaedic surgeries. In addition to a strong role in orthopaedics and outpatient musculoskeletal work in the hospital, Áine also gained valuable experience in the Intensive Care and High Dependency Units.

     Áine has a wide range of work experience in hospitals, nursing homes and private practice in Ireland, Canada and Singapore. She has a specific interest in orthopaedics and musculoskeletal, but enjoys rehabilitation of a wide variety of conditions.     Siobhán gained her undergraduate degree in Physical Education and her Master of Science degree in Health Science/Sports Injury Prevention and Management in the USA. She worked in a large orthopaedic & sports injury clinic in New York, experiencing at first hand the benefits to the patient of working closely with other healthcare professionals, especially surgeons.

    She then moved to the UK where she founded a physiotherapy, sports medicine and sports performance practice, acting as Clinical Director for 15 years in addition to her clinical duties as a Chartered Physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal & sports injuries. She completed a post-graduate Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine, was involved in the development and delivery of undergraduate degree courses in Sports Rehabilitation, and was a founding member of the professional body for graduates of these courses. She also managed to somehow find the time to play scrum-half for Ireland (albeit a few years ago now!).

    Maureen is also a specialist in the treatment of bladder and bowel incontinence for both female and male patients.  A current ACPWH member, she has several years’ experience of treating women who suffer from pregnancy-related musculoskeletal problems, teaching antenatal and Pilate’s classes.   This can include antenatal or postnatal problems associated with pregnancy and/or childbirth, or gynaecological problems such as urinary/ faecal urgency and/or incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic pain symptoms.  

    Maureen is also a fully certified Lymphoedema Specialist Physiotherapist with full standard and advanced level CDT training from the Foeldi Lymphoedema School, member of the Lymphoedema Network Northern Ireland offering Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT) including Multi-Layer Lymphoedema Bandaging (MLLB), Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), compression garment prescription and Lymphoedema Kinesiotaping.

    Since qualifying Joanna has worked within the NHS in Scotland, completing rotations in Care of the Elderly, Musculoskeletal outpatients, Orthopaedic inpatients, Acute stroke rehabilitation, Women’s health and Respiratory/surgical physiotherapy.     Patrick is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the ISCP. Patrick obtained his BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree from the Royal College of Surgeons. Before becoming a Chartered Physiotherapist, Patrick graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science from University of Ulster, Jordanstown. Patrick is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist as a well as a Physical Therapist. Patrick has worked as a Chartered Physiotherapist and coach in a Strength and Conditioning gym as well as working in private practice.

    Over the years Patrick has worked with numerous sports gaining experience in sports injuires, carrying out pre-season functional screening and team strength and conditioning. He has spent the spent the past 3 1/2 years living in Australia where he worked in a Sports injury clinic gaining extensive exposure to the assessment and diagnosis of variety of sporting and musculoskeletal injuries.
     
    Shane has carried out postgraduate  training in the area of sports injury management (diagnosis and treatment) through the Australian Physiotherpy Association of which he is a current memeber of,  as well as furthering his clinical skills  in Manual Therapy, Dry Needling and the Mulligan approach. He is currently  doing a Masters in the area of Sports Physiotherapy through University College Dublin to further his knowledge and skills in this discipline. Shane also plans to further his Professional development in the next 12 months with the completion of a Certificate in Manual Therapy as well as Strength and Conditioning course through the National Stength and Conditioning Association

    Dwain became a Chartered Physiotherapist following on from his BSc. in Physiotherapy from the University of London in the UK. While attaining this position he worked in several of the UK’s top Hospitals until he relocated to work here in Dublin. He is also a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and is an active member of the Irish Society Of Chartered Physiotherapy. Since qualifying he has specialised in Musculoskeletal, Orthopaedics, Neurological Assessments,  Functional Movement Screen, Strength & Conditioning, Manual Therapy, Movement Facilitation, Pre-habilitation Exercise, Patient and Family Education and Exercise Prescription in professional hospital settings.

    Sandra completed her honours physiotherapy degree in Teesside University having first completed an honours degree in Rehabilitation studies in Wolverhampton University. She is a fully qualified APPI Pilates instructor and has skills in both acupuncture and dry needling.

    Sandra also has an ITEC diploma in sports massage, sports injuries, personal training and exercise prescription.

    After graduating as a chartered physiotherapist, Sandra worked in private practice in Drogheda gaining experience in spinal, musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions.   • Naomi Lyng

    Naomi is a fully licenced and insured Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the ISCP. She graduated with honours from UCD and shortly afterwards travelled to Singapore where she became part of a dynamic team in Alexandra Hospital (Jurong Health Group) for two years. She completed her clinical rotations there, gaining strong experience working with Musculoskeletal patients, Sports Rehabilitation, Orthopaedic (surgical and non-surgical) patients, Respiratory patients, Neurological/Care of the Elderly patients and Bariatric/Weight Management patients.

    While in Singapore she also developed her skills as an instructor of Pilates, having completed the STOTT Intensive Mat-Plus Instructor course, participating in various DMA Clinical Pilates workshops and teaching various classes. She believes strongly in the use of Pilates-based exercises for both rehabilitation and prevention of injuries.

    Taking the long route home to Ireland, she continued to maintain her clinical skills through working in a busy ski resort spa in Queenstown, New Zealand, where she gave sports and deep tissue massage to clients. She has worked with sports teams, including the J4 UCD rugby team during her time in university, worked in various nursing homes in Kilkenny and Dublin, and given community geriatric-based exercise classes as part of a research project in Singapore. Further to this, she travelled to South India with UCDVO where she worked with children with neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy and brain injuries, an experience that gave her great respect for the benefits of physiotherapy.

    Naomi specialises in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic injuries, Dry Needling, chronic pain management, stroke rehabilitation, sports injuries, falls prevention and vestibular disorders in the elderly, deep tissue massage and respiratory physiotherapy.     Steven Delaney qualified with a  BSc. (Hons) from Oxford Brookes University, UK, and is a fully licensed member of the ISCP. He also has completed courses in Sports Massage, STOTT Pilates, Biomechanics and Orthotics Prescription, and Personal Training.

    He has been working in a private practice environment, where he regularly treated athletes with sports injuries, army personnel and people suffering from postural pain issues related to their work environment. 

    Steven believes in placing a strong emphasis on manual treatment combined with biomechanic correction through exercises and postural awareness. 

    With a strong interest in Sports Physiotherapy, he has been involved with sports clubs such as Blessington Senior GAA, Clongowes Wood College Junior and Senior Rugby Team, and is currently with Kildare GAA, Senior Hurling Team. Steven also worked as a Senior Lecturer of short courses in AUT University, New Zealand, teaching Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers. 

    Outside of work Steven is interested in Strength and Conditioning and contact sports like MMA and Boxing. He also played Senior Cup Schools Rugby and Leinster Schools Rugby.

    Margo Heffernan

    Margo is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. Margo obtained her BSc. Physiotherapy degree at the University College Dublin. She has worked with Waterford Institute of Technology as the Physio for all the sports teams, with Havenwood Nursing Home providing service for their residents and with Waterford Regional Hospital in the Waterford Back Care Programme. She has also worked in Private Practice in Waterford Health Park prior to joining our clinic and team. Margo has a special interest in musculoskeletal injuries especially the low back. She also has experience with sports injuries, sports traumatology and core stability rehabilitation. She is efficient in the use of Kinesiology taping and will soon complete her Pilates qualification. She also has an interest in adult neurology and respiratory conditions.

    Margo enjoys Camogie and was a member of the Waterford Senior Camogie Team who were runners up in the All Ireland in 2009 and 2010. She also loves basketball and is currently playing for the Wildcats Division 1 Team.

Since Qualifying he has worked as a senior physiotherapist at the sports and rehabilitation centre in The Aga Khan University Hospital and was a manager of physiotherapy at the Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi Pakistan. He also has experience working on world famous MicroFit fitness Evaluation System and development of customized exercise and fitness plan for professional athletes and fitness conscious individuals. He is excellent in deep tissue massage, joints manipulation and pain management.
