Anne Coolen McGoldrick
Director of Medical Services, Chartered Physiotherapist BSc MISCP

Anne is a fully licensed and insured Chartered Physiotherapist and has worked in Private Practice for over 15 years. She is one of the founding partners of The Physio Company. Before co-founding The Physio Company, she worked in The National Orthopaedic Hospital in Clontarf, in Private Practice in Castletroy Physiotherapy Clinic in Limerick and in Drumcondra Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic. She became a joint partner in Drumcondra Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic in 2003, which has been in operation for over 25 years. When The Physio Company commenced operations in 2007, she quickly brought Drumcondra Physiotherapy Clinic into the fold and it is now an integral part of The Physio Company.
Anne takes a great interest in the direction of Chartered Physiotherapy as a profession. As Director of Medical Services for The Physio Company, Anne applies her long and diverse experience in all areas of Physiotherapy in directing the medical excellence of our Physio team. She ensures that all of our physiotherapists maintain the high levels expected by The Physio Company with constant focus on our Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme. She also ensures all our Physiotherapists abide by The ISCP Rules of Professional Conduct and the European Core Standards of Physiotherapy, with a particular focus on ethics, confidentiality and patient satisfaction. She is very involved at a training level and handpicks all of our Physiotherapists herself.
Although Anne currently does not have a regular schedule in the Clinic she does consult on difficult cases where needed and is always available to discuss any aspect of apatients care with the patient or the Physio.
Mary Coolen
Clinical Lead - Chartered Physiotherapist

Mary is a well known and well respected Chartered Physiotherapist with over 35 years of experience in Physiotherapy with accreditations in England, Canada and Ireland. For the last 25 years, Mary has run private practice clinics in Ireland and was the founder of Drumcondra Chartered Physiotherapy & Sport’s Injury Clinic, which joined The Physio Company in 2009.
Among Mary’s many achievements and responsibilities, Mary was Chairperson of the CPPP (Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice) the body that represents all private practice physio’s.

Warwick Gordon
Clinical Director - Chartered Physiotherapist, Clinical Specialist in Musculoskeletal Therapy

Warwick is a is a fully licensed Musculoskeletal Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. Warwick completed his BHSc from Auckland University of Technology. He later went on to complete an MHSc in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy allowing him to diagnose and treat complex neuromusculoskeletal conditions using advanced techniques including spinal manipulation. He has developed his skills working in private practice in both New Zealand and Ireland over the last seven years and has a particular interest in low back pain, running disorders and dysfunctions of the shoulder. Whilst working in private practice Warwick has worked with a variety of elite athletes providing on and off field care to the Marist Rugby club competing in the Auckland Premier Rugby Competition and Waitakere United soccer in the New Zealand National league. Currently Warwick works with Bective Rangers RFC.

Frank Kenny
Chartered Physiotherapist

Frank is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists, the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (UK) and the League Medical Association (Sports Medicine in Elite Professional Sport – UK). He obtained his BSc. (Hons) Physiotherapy Degree in Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. He also holds a previous BSc. Degree in Science from N.U.I. Galway.
Since qualifying Frank has worked as the head physiotherapist of St. Johnstone Football Club of the Scottish Premier League, treating numerous international players such as Cillian Sheridan, Alan Maybury, Callum Davidson and Jody Morris on a full time basis. Frank also has experience working as a personal trainer with Micro Fitness and Conditioning in Vancouver, Canada. Here he provided comprehensive strength and conditioning, injury prevention and rehabilitation advice to a wide range of clients from those suffering with degenerative neurological conditions to elite professional athletes.
Since graduating Frank has completed courses in dry needling, osteopathic techniques for physiotherapists, diagnostic ultrasound, sports specific taping and orthopaedic medicine. He is currently involved in the Sports Physiotherapy Program in conjunction with the Sports Surgery Clinic Santry, helping with elite team assessments.
Outside of work Frank likes to get involved in most sports. He has represented his county and university in underage Gaelic football and soccer, and he has played underage hockey for Munster and was also involved in underage training camp with the Irish national team.
Frank specialises in sports injuries, musculoskeletal injuries, dry needling, sports and deep tissue massage, and post-op rehab.

Nicola Cadden
Chartered Physiotherapist
Nicola is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. She completed her BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy Degree in Trinity College Dublin and went on to obtain a Masters Degree in Advanced Physiotherapy Practice in University College Dublin.Nicola’s main area of interest is musculoskeletal physiotherapy, and in particular sports injuries. She has gained much experience in this area through her work in private practice and her work with Gaelic football teams over the past number of years. Nicola works hard to continue her professional development and is also now a certified Acupuncturist and STOTT-certified Pilates instructor.
Nicola also has a special interest in the area of occupational health. In addition to her clinical work, she is experienced in workstation assessment and is also a FETAC-certified Manual Handling and People Moving and Handling Instructor.
Nicola is a sports enthusiast and enjoys running and practicing Pilates in her spare time.

Caroline is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist and Acupuncturist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists.. After graduating, Caroline completed her Masters Degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and achieved a Distinction in her membership exams for the Manipulative Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. Caroline completed a Higher Diploma in Acupuncture at UCD in 2007, as well as a post graduate Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy at UCD in 2011.
She worked for 5 years as a Senior Outpatient Physiotherapist in, the award winning teaching Hospital, Whittington Hospital, London, and has worked in private practice since returning to Ireland in 2005. She was also clinical tutor on the MSc Manipulative Physiotherapy Course in University College London. Caroline uses her 10 years of specialist experience to address patients personal needs and preferences to enhance efficent recovery from pain and injuries. She is also currently the team physio for the Under 21s Rugby Team in UCD.
Outside of work, Caroline was an active and enthusiatic Member of Orwell Wheelers Cycling club and is a member of the sports and exercise medicine special interest group in the ISCP. Caroline has an expertise and a special interest in treating people suffering from chronic pain, sports injuries and musculoskeletal disorders.

Stephen Swanton
Chartered Physiotherapist

Stephen is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. He obtained his BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree at University College Dublin. Since qualifying Stephen has worked in private practice. He enjoys treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries, especially neck and shoulder problems.
Since graduating Stephen has completed a number of post graduate courses covering Biomedical Acupuncture, Pain Physiology, the Management of work related Musculoskeletal Disorders, Workstation Assessment, Sports Injury Management, Sports/Kinesiology Taping and Sports Traumatology. In 2010 he was certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and is currently pursuing certification in performance enhancement /strength & conditioning and level 2 sports physiotherapist accreditation. Stephen takes a proactive approach with all his patients and enjoys getting to the heart of complex movement problems to enable you to play and work pain free.
Outside of the clinic Stephen is highly interested in Tai Chi Chuan and obtained his certification as a Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan instructor in 2008. He has previously taught the UCD Tai Chi club.
Stephen is also highly involved in the Sports and Exercise Medicine clinical interest group of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and is currently their Communications Officer.

Caitriona Newham

Caitriona is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current memberships of both the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapist UK.
Since Caitriona qualified with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy Degree from The University of Hertfordshire (UK), Caitriona has worked both in NHS Hospitals and in private practice as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. Caitriona is also a fully Certified APPI Pilates instructor with experience in teaching clients on a one to one basis and in group classes. Caitriona aims to make her Pilates classes a fun and rewarding experience where everyone can reach their own personal goals, fitness and flexibility.
Caitriona has wide experience in the treatment of various musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions, such as low back pain, neck pain, sports injuries, pre/post surgery and fractures. She has also run comprehensive chronic back pain courses.

Bláithín Brady

Bláithín is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. Bláithín obtained her BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree in Scotland in the Queen Margaret University of Edinburgh. Since graduating Bláithín has worked in various Private Practices in both Mayo and Longford and has a vast amount of experience of treating various patients.
Bláithín has had a broad amount of experience in the assessment and treatment of various musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions such as sports injuries, fractures and tendonopathies as well as various Neurological conditions such as Stroke and Parkinson’s disease. Bláithín has also worked as a Physiotherapist with the Multiple Sclerosis Society carrying out home visits and exercise classes for its members. Bláithín also has a keen interest in biomechanics assessment and orthotic prescription as a TOG practitioner.

Catriona Burke

Catriona is a fully licensed chartered Physiotherapist with current Irish society of chartered Physiotherapists membership. Catriona graduated from the University of Limerick with a BSc in Physiotherapy. Following graduation, she gained experience working in a variety of settings; in hospitals, private practice, with sports teams and in nursing homes. She spent two years in Singapore working in a large acute hospital -Tan Tock Seng, gaining experience in musculoskeletal outpatients, orthopaedic inpatients, neuro/geri inpatients and cardiopulmonary inpatients.
Currently Catriona works with the Physio Company in Churchtown on a part time basis and also in a private hospital in Dublin. Her case-load in the Private hospital is varied with orthopaedic, maternity/women’s health and geriatric patients. She also treats a number of chronic stroke and elderly patients on an outpatient basis. She has a vast amount of experience in the post operative rehabilitation of orthopaedic conditions and is committed to helping patients achieve their optimum function and return to sports. In addition to this she has experience working with an ante and post natal population, delivers post natal classes, teaches pelvic floor exercise and deals with problems arising from pregnancy, delivery and gynaecological conditions.
She has a special interest in treating elderly and neurological patients (Strokes, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons disease) and is trained in falls prevention programs and Bobath facilitation. She also has experience working with patients who have vertigo or other vestibular disorders.

Barry Ryan

He completed his BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree at University of Teesside, UK. Prior to this, he obtained a Higher Certificate in Applied Physiology & Health Science from the Institute of Technology Carlow. Since qualifying Barry has worked across several sectors including elderly rehabilitation, private practice, and team physiotherapy. He has a particular interest in GAA and rugby, and was one of the physiotherapists with County Carlow Rugby Club last year. Brenda Deering

Claudia is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. She graduated as a Physiotherapist from the Colombian School for Rehabilitation (CSR), Bogotá, Colombia. CSR for more than 50 years has prepared highly qualified individuals to practice Physiotherapy mainly in the areas of cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal and neurological rehabilitation. In 2007, Claudia obtained the Spanish university degree of Physiotherapists recognition and validation, Madrid. Spain.
Claudia has gained much experience and worked in a variety of settings in particular neuro rehabilitation, orthopaedics and musculoskeletal. She obtained great experience working with the Military Rehabilitation Hospital in Colombia treating patients with different conditions; such as spinal injury, strokes, multiple sclerosis, cranioencephalic trauma, and cardiac rehabilitation. She has eight years experience working as a physiotherapist in private practices and hospitals in Colombia and Ireland.

Niamh Connolly
Chartered Physiotherapist

Niamh Connolly is a fully licensed member of the ISCP, she qualified with a Bsc. (Hons) Physiotherapy from the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland following a Bsc. Science (Hons) degree in Anatomy from the National University of Ireland, Galway.
Since qualifying Niamh has completed a number of courses, including Certificate in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (Manual Concepts/Curtin University), Chronic Lower Back Pain by Peter O’ Sullivan, Sports Traumatology, Sports Taping, Kinesiology Taping and Dry Needling. She also volunteered for a 6 month period in Uganda working within the community/orphanages/ hospitals mainly with a paediatrics/special needs caseload.
She has experience working within a mainly sports orientated private practice, with an emphasis on manual therapy, treating a large range of musculoskeletal/sports injuries. This also included working with a number of local GAA (St Patrick’s GAA, Coolera GAA, Tubbercurry GAA, and Sligo Ladies County GAA), hurling (Coolera , Sligo Institute of Technology, Calry) and rugby (Sligo Ladies RFC) teams.
Niamh currently works with Kildare Co. GAA, including seniors, U 21′s, minors and Kildare Hurling.
Outside of work, Niamh plays wing for for St. Marys RFC, Templeogue and has also played with Connaght Ladies.

Una Ni Mhainin
Chartered Physiotherapist

Una is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. Una obtained her Honours BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of Limerick. Earlier this year Una also obtained a certificate in Spinal Manual Therapy. Since graduating, Una went on to work in hospitals in Ireland and New Zealand where she gained extensive experience in post surgery, orthopaedic and aged care physiotherapy. From there Una went on to work in Private Practice in Brisbane, Australia acquiring valuable musculoskeletal and sport physiotherapy skills and experience. The clinic was also a primary physiotherapy provider for rugby union and AFL teams.
Since returning home to Ireland Una has continued working in private practice. She is also currently working with senior/intermediate GAA teams. Previously Una has volunteered as a physiotherapist in the World Transplant Games 2009 and she is also a native Gaeilge speaker!

Manus MacGabhann
Chartered Physiotherapist

Manus is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. Manus completed his Physiotherapy degree in Sheffield Hallam University. Manus had previously studied a BSc in Sports Management and MSc research masters in Sports Studies in UCD. Manus presented these research findings at the Irish Medical Sports Council at the annual Sports and Exercise Medicine Conference in The Royal College of Surgeons in September 2009.
Since qualifying, Manus has worked in private practice gaining experience in treating a wide range of conditions including sports injuries, arthritic joints, repetitive strain injuries, orthopaedic conditions and neck and back pain. Manus has also worked in the Cara Chesire homes working with the physically and mentally disabled and has experience in hydrotherapy with Enable Ireland treating numerous neurological conditions.
Manus has a great interest in sports physiotherapy as he is a keen follower and participator in numerous sports. He plays rugby, Gaelic football, football and golf. He has worked for UCD Men’s Senior football team, Irish Men’s Senior Volleyball and Bective Rangers Rugby Club where he gained experience with pitch side injuries, trauma and dealing with acute sporting injuries. Manus has completed numerous post graduate courses including: kinesio- taping, sports massage, advanced treatment techniques for knee, hip and groin injuries and biomechanical assessment and orthotic prescription. He also specialises in mysofacial dry needling treatment for sports and chronic pain injuries.

Sinead Tracey

Sinead is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. She obtained her masters of Physiotherapy in Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. Sinead had previously obtained a BSc from the University of Limerick in Sports and Exercise Science. Since qualifying, Sinead has worked in convalescence for orthopaedic and cardiac patients and in private practices working in the areas of Sports traumatology, functional training and musculoskeletal screening.
Sinead also has an interest in Paediatrics, in particular intellectual disability and mental illness and has worked in children’s services. She has also worked extensively with sports injuries and provides Physio to St Sylvester’s Ladies GAA team. She holds a current certificate in exercise and fitness and is a qualified health and fitness instructor. Her post graduate courses to date include qualifications in Pilates, sports taping, sports traumatolgy, kinesio taping and dry needling.

Siobhán O' Donovan

Siobhán gained her undergraduate degree in Physical Education and her Master of Science degree in Health Science/Sports Injury Prevention and Management in the USA. She worked in a large orthopaedic & sports injury clinic in New York, experiencing at first hand the benefits to the patient of working closely with other healthcare professionals, especially surgeons.
She then moved to the UK where she founded a physiotherapy, sports medicine and sports performance practice, acting as Clinical Director for 15 years in addition to her clinical duties as a Chartered Physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal & sports injuries. She completed a post-graduate Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine, was involved in the development and delivery of undergraduate degree courses in Sports Rehabilitation, and was a founding member of the professional body for graduates of these courses. David completed his BSc in Physiotherapy from Keele University in the UK, after having undertaken a Higher Certificate in Physiology and Health Science in Carlow Institute of Technology. He then completed an MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine in Trinity College Dublin. This helped improve his diagnostic skills, and paved the way to get involved with elite sport.David is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists.
David is the Head Physiotherapist for UCD AFC in the Airtricity Premier League of Ireland, and monitors the Academy team. He attends all training sessions and match day fixtures for the first team. Having a keen interest in rugby, David also provides match day cover for Old Belvedere RFC in the Ulster Bank League.
David has developed his skills working in private practice in Ireland, and has a particular interest in knee rehabilitation, core stability and strength & conditioning.

Roisin Gleeson

Roisin is a fully licensed chartered physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered physiotherapy. She obtained her degree in physiotherapy from University
College Dublin. Since qualifying as a physiotherapist Roisin has worked in diverse physiotherapy environments including hospital, private practice and community settings. Roisin has gained experience in musculoskeletal conditions, stroke rehabilitation, cardio-respiratory, orthopaedics and care of the elderly.Roisin is committed to CPD and has obtained post graduate qualifications in numerous specialities including acupuncture, Pilates and orthopaedic medicine. She also successfully completed “Manipulation and Manual therapy of the Spinal and Peripheral joints” (MACP Belfast 1993). Roisin has recently developed an interest in Occupational Health and is presently studying to obtain registration with the “Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics”
Roisin’s goal is to help her patients achieve their personnel challenges in an effective, professional and caring manner.

Sandra McGovern

Sandra completed her honours physiotherapy degree in Teesside University having first completed an honours degree in Rehabilitation studies in Wolverhampton University. She is a fully qualified APPI Pilates instructor and has skills in both acupuncture and dry needling.
Sandra also has an ITEC diploma in sports massage, sports injuries, personal training and exercise prescription.
After graduating as a chartered physiotherapist, Sandra worked in private practice in Drogheda gaining experience in spinal, musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions. Sandra has worked in women’s health incontinence assessment and treatment. She has further her studies in diastasis recti testing and rehabilitation.
She has also worked with the irish ballet association,Dublin rebels American footballers and has also worked with UCDs strength training coach with varies élite athletes.
Sandra has worked in New Zealand where she worked in lake taupo for the Rugby world cup, she also gained experience with iron med competitors and junior athletes. Then in Australia she worked in private practice in a leading physiotherapy company.

She obtained her BSc Hons degree from the University of Brighton after completing a higher certificate in Physiology and Health Science from I.T Carlow.Chloe most recently has returned from Stanford University in the U.S, gaining experience in sports injury management, sports traumatology, kinesio taping and developing sport specific exercise prescription and programmes.
Chloe also has an interest in paediatrics having gained experience in the Royal Alexandra Childrens Hospital, Brighton. Here, she treated children with a variety of musculoskeletal and developmental problems.

Janet Levingstone

Robert Foley

Rob Foley is a fully chartered physiotherapist and a licensed member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and the Australian Physiotherapy Association. He qualified with a BSc. (Hons) Physiotherapy from the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland with a previous BSc (Hons) in Sport Science and Health from Dublin City University.Since qualifying, Rob has worked in a variety of physiotherapy services in Dublin and Australia including private practice, aged care and rehabilitation.
During his time working in Rehab, Rob worked with all types of patients and was involved in a variety of services including working with spinal injured patients, traumatic and non-traumatic brain injuries, amputees, paediatric patients and patients with respiratory issues as well as working in exercise therapy and hydrotherapy.
As well as being a chartered physiotherapist Rob is also a qualified N.C.E.F. physical instructor and a Level 1 Tennis Coach. Rob has been involved with Tennis Ireland since he was 17 and has worked as a coach and physical trainer for the Junior National Squad. As a player Rob represented Leinster and Ireland at junior level and still has a keen interest in Tennis and all other sports.

Margo Heffernan

Margo is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. Margo obtained her BSc. Physiotherapy degree at the University College Dublin. She has worked with Waterford Institute of Technology as the Physio for all the sports teams, with Havenwood Nursing Home providing service for their residents and with Waterford Regional Hospital in the Waterford Back Care Programme. She has also worked in Private Practice in Waterford Health Park prior to joining our clinic and team. Margo has a special interest in musculoskeletal injuries especially the low back. She also has experience with sports injuries, sports traumatology and core stability rehabilitation. She is efficient in the use of Kinesiology taping and will soon complete her Pilates qualification. She also has an interest in adult neurology and respiratory conditions.
Margo enjoys Camogie and was a member of the Waterford Senior Camogie Team who were runners up in the All Ireland in 2009 and 2010. She also loves basketball and is currently playing for the Wildcats Division 1 Team.

Maria Walsh

Maria is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. Maria obtained her MSc. Physiotherapy masters degree at the University of East Anglia, UK. Prior to this she obtained her undergraduate BSc (hons) degree in Sports Science at Canterbury Christchurch University, UK. Since qualifying Maria has gained her experience working in private practice and has also worked with various sports teams including the Waterford Ladies football team.
Maria has completed her Pilates training with the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute (APPI) to become a Pilate’s instructor. She was solely responsible for promoting, organizing and running back classes. Maria has also completed a number of other post-graduate courses which have added to the repertoire of techniques, such as deep dry needling, kinesiology taping, shoulder rehabilitation and spinal manual therapy. Maria also has experience in providing treatments for Women’s Health.
Maria is a keen cyclist and enjoys taking part in numerous Sportiff cycling events during the summer months.

Ann Prendergast

Ann is a fully licensed Chartered Physiotherapist with current membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. She obtained her BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree at University College Dublin.
Ann has gained experience in the field of sports physiotherapy, with particular focus on basketball and GAA. She has also worked as a Physiotherapist for many sporting events throughout the country including the Athlone ¾ Marathon, Vodafone Triathlon, and the European Surfing Championships, among others. Since graduating, Ann has completed additional courses in Sports Traumatology and Sports Taping, and will shortly complete a Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy course.
Ann also has an interest in active ageing and elderly rehabilitation. She has completed both formal and informal courses in falls prevention, urinary incontinence care and treatment, and bone health. Since graduating, Ann has also worked as a Research Physiotherapist in UCD, planning and executing a research project entitled “A home-based electrical muscle stimulation training program in an elderly population”, where she carried out exercise testing in an older population and educated participants about EMS and exercise.
Ann has a keen interest in all sports and has a competitive background in basketball. She has played basketball with UCD Ladies Basketball Club for 5 years in the Dublin League and has now joined Team Kilkenny. She is also a certified Basketball Coach. She is an avid road cyclist and has participated in many endurance events and charity events throughout the country.
